Book Recommendation

As a way to start our newest genealogy effort – this blog – I want to tell you about the book I am reading.  It’s “Annie’s Ghosts” by Steve Luxenberg.  The subtitle is A journey into a family’s secret and that tells you something (but not all) about why I’m so intrigued with this book.  The basic storyline is that son (who’s a journalist) discovers that his mother has maintained the fiction that she is an only child for most of her adult life.  After her death he began to try to uncover the truth.  As an avid genealogist I find myself wanting to tell him what to do next, who to talk to and what questions to ask.  Since I haven’t yet finished it, I don’t know if he followed my unspoken advice, or what he discovered.  It’s holding my attention and I can’t wait to see how his research plays out.
