Susan Wilcox Justice – 52 Ancestors # 51 Nice

I have written previously about my 3g-grandmother Susan Wilcox Justice, but she meets the definition of nice for this week’s theme.  Although she died before I was born, so I never met her, she was reportedly a gentle person, seeing good in most every one.  When she died in 1881, in her 84th year, she left many relatives and friends to mourn.

Here is the obituary that was printed after her funeral which details her life story.  She lived next door to, and undoubtedly mothered, her grandchildren (whose mother, her daughter, had died young) and two of her great grandchildren.  It was noted, too, that she was raised in the Society of Friends and maintained that simple and gentle lifestyle throughout her life even after leaving that community.
