As a way to start our newest genealogy effort – this blog – I want to tell you about the book I am reading.\u00a0 It’s “Annie’s Ghosts” by Steve Luxenberg.\u00a0 The subtitle is A journey into a family’s secret and that tells you something (but not all) about why I’m so intrigued with this book.\u00a0 The basic storyline is that son (who’s a journalist) discovers that his mother has maintained the fiction that she is an only child for most of her adult life.\u00a0 After her death he began to try to uncover the truth.\u00a0 As an avid genealogist I find myself wanting to tell him what to do next, who to talk to and what questions to ask.\u00a0 Since I haven’t yet finished it, I don’t know if he followed my unspoken advice, or what he discovered.\u00a0 It’s holding my attention and I can’t wait to see how his research plays out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
