Uncle Frank Snow (1882-1945) – 52 Ancestors # 46 Random Fact

My great uncle Frank Snow was a civil engineer and taught for much of his career at Georgia Tech in Atlanta.  This leads to the two random facts for this week.

The first is my memory of my mother telling us that he had been a professor at Georgia Tech, and then singing the first line from the Ramblin’ Wrecks fight song from Georgia Tech.

The second is that Uncle Frank was said to be ambidextrous, and as a professor he could start writing on the blackboard at the far left with his left hand then switch to his right in the middle and complete the line with his right hand.  He was thus able to fill the entire blackboard instead of having to write in sections.

Having a facility with my left hand, although I am basically right handed, I was always intrigued by this and thought it would be a fine thing to be able to do.  (It turns out that doing this sort of switching is much easier on a blackboard, although it takes practice, and almost impossible on a piece of paper.)
